Description

A dance theatre solo piece by the international dance artist Athanasia Kanellopoulou.

A babylon of movements, of silent screams, deafening whispers. Annihilation in birth, rejuvenation in birth. Danger bubbling in the veins of the machine. An emotional torrent, a cataclysmic crescendo meandering a labyrinth of choices. An endless transformation till we reach the real self.

Athanasia Kanellopoulou

An International recognised dance artist with strong recommendations as her journey this far includes collaborations with many important choreographers and artists. Athanasia Kanellopoulou has studied with a scholarship at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, London (1996-1999). Among others are: the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, where she toured with the company as a guest dancer in many festivals worldwide (2002-2008), Jasmin Vardimon Company (2006-2008), Les Ballets C de la B – Koen Augustihn (2008-2010), Rafaelle Giovanola- Cocoondance (2010-2012), Alexandra Waierstall (2012-2013). She has also worked with many Israeli choreographers such as Lior Lev, Guy Weissman, Roni Haver, Rami Levi, Jossi Berg and with Iker Gomez, In jung Jun., Zeynep Tanbay, etc

‘Creating and performing is a special offering. I invite the audience to witness and also participate in this artistic transformation. My choreographic research is a response to and resistance against an increasingly consumerist ‘plastic’ society, It focuses around the quest for the hidden, true self, it is a search for light onto the nefarious corners of the human soul , a quest for the forgotten poesy of life. As a choreographer and performer I convert a more private, confessional diary –like writing into a physical act in order to explore tender, silent or more resonant inflections of the self ‘

‘. . A brilliantly danced, emotionally touching journey into the dangerous no-man’s land of passion. Kanellopoulou’s poetic reflection remains eerily alive..’
