Resident conductor Michael Laus opens the MPO's 2012 - 2013 season with internationally-acclaimed violinist and co-leader of the London Symphony Orchestra Carmine Lauri featuring one of Bruch's most exciting and well known works. This attractive programme opens with Beethoven's portrayal of the ancient Roman leader Gaius Marcius Coriolanus as he leads an army of his former enemies to Rome's gates, leading to his fatality. Brahms' first Symphony closes this evening in style, known for its distinctive orchestral textures, delicate musings and lush melodies.
