To enhance patrons’ musical knowledge and listening experiences, pre-concert talks are offered before selected Teatru Manoel performances. Informative and entertaining, these pre-concert talks begin at 7.15pm, last approximately 20 minutes, and are free to all ticket-holders. Pre Concert Talks are held at Teatru Manoel’s Studio Theatre, Mint Street, Valletta.

Pre Concert Talk Speaker: Neil Briscoe White

Neil Briscoe White is a qualified historian who is passionate about music and the arts. He read music in the UK at the University of East Anglia and studied piano with Sidney Harrison at the Royal Academy of Music, London. In 1991 he collaborated with Sulamita Aronovsky on the launch of the inaugural London International Piano Competition and served as a director until 2002. He discovered a passion for ballet at the Mariinsky Theatre and opera at Covent Garden, where a chance meeting with Maltese pianist Karen Briscoe brought him indirectly to Malta, where he has lived since 1992.
His public presentations have included talks on Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes, Stravinsky and the Arts in the 20th Century and Stravinsky and Balanchine – the Great Collaboration and Twentieth Century Piano.
Neil’s love of music, knowledge and insights will surely delight our listeners at the Toi Toi Talks this season.
