“Toi Toi” A phrase used to wish good luck to an artist, seconds before going on stage!
Welcome…
Life at the theatre is bustling with activity around Toi Toi. September 2011 saw the launch of this exciting and rich educational programme. Teatru Manoel has a deep commitment towards Arts Education and aspires to reach an ever-growing audience, to be enjoyed by all. Our mission is to bring our younger audiences closer to the wonderful world of the Arts, inspiring them with events that cater specifically for children and young adults.
To date, we have had over 40 Toi Toi events with plenty more coming your way in the months ahead! Among these, look out for Toi Toi 022, 325, and 628 - our monthly concerts for infants, toddlers and children, Toi Toi Bonanzas - which include workshops with internationally acclaimed musicians, Toi Toi talks - the informal but highly informative pre-concert talks held in our new Studio Theatre and much much more! Other events that have delighted our participants include a wonderful jazz Toi Toi Jazz Jam with pianist Mike del Ferro, our Toi Toi Treasure Hunt and Behind the Scenes events, Baroque Sundays, as well as collaborations during Ziguzajg festival.
Another exciting Toi Toi initiative is the Teatru Manoel Youth Theatre (TMYT), our home-grown Youth Theatre, founded in 2011. This ongoing performance-based, learning adventure for 16 – 20 year olds consists of weekly performance workshops. The group’s efforts culminated in a theatre piece entitled ‘Peculiar Children’ in February 2013 under the superb direction of Denise Mullholland.
The young are thirsty for more, the old wish to be young again to make the most of such events. So indulge in the Arts… learn and enjoy with Toi Toi!
